12 Real Women. Doing Their Real Jobs.
Beauty and the Bolt is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to lower the barrier to entry for girls in engineering, making, and the trades. We have an innovative approach to media and content creation, and frequently show that femininity and engineering are not mutually exclusive.
All calendar proceeds go directly towards additional programming, curriculum development, and media creation.

What makes this calendar so special?
We set out to create a calendar featuring the classic Princesses many of us grew up with. Too often, young girls are presented the idea that they can be either a princess or an engineer: we are proving they can be both. Our Princesses with Power Tools Calendar is a perfect example of that-- featuring 12 incredible women in STEM and the Trades doing their work in a princess gown.
Inspired by our incredibly popular #PrincessesWithPowerTools program which has taught nearly 5,000 kids to use their first power tool, we thought it would be fun to share the princess magic with more families and kids than can be reached by our small team of volunteers.

Orders must be placed by Dec 13 and be in the first 1,000 orders to guarantee holiday domestic delivery.
Meet the Princesses
Each month, you’ll get taken into the magical world of each Princess: whether it’s deep into the oceans with a marine biologist or high in the sky with a pilot and flight mechanic. Learn about what they do each day, from seeing patients, to developing complex mathematical models, to building rockets.
Our Princesses with Power Tools Program
This calendar is based on one of Beauty and the Bolt’s most popular hands-on, interactive programs: Princesses with Power Tools. Our volunteer princesses have taught nearly 5,000 kids to use their first power tool, ranging the youngest at 2 years old all the way to grandma.
The program sees complete gender equity-- boys love princesses too. "I can't tell you how many times I've seen a little girl look up at her mom and go 'Mommy, mommy! I want to do that! Let me use the hand drill' to have her mother respond 'No honey, leave that for your brother.' But when the little girl can retort 'No, I wanna go hand drill with the mermaid. Mermaids are for me too!' it puts the parent in a tough situation, and usually the kid gets to come make something with us." Foxlin says. We've had 3 generations of women all learning to power drill side by side at our table-- grandma, mom, and the little princess. It doesn't just lift the girls up, but also older women who never got opportunities when they were growing up.
